Concursos de Projetos Exploratórios dos Programas CMU-Portugal MIT-Portugal e UT Austin-Portugal 2024

The CMU-Portugal, MIT-Portugal and UT Austin-Portugal exploratory project competitions fund 12-month research projects with high risk but potential for high impact, within international partnerships coordinated by FCT. The CMU-Portugal track focuses on Information and Communication Technologies with funding of 50,000€ per project for single institutions or 70,000€ for copromoted multi-institution projects; the MIT-Portugal track includes Climate Science & Climate Change, Earth Systems: Oceans to Near Space, Digital Transformation in Manufacturing, and Sustainable Cities with 50,000€ per project; the UT Austin-Portugal areas are Advanced Computing, Nano Materials for New Markets, Space-Earth Interactions with 50,000€ per project. The aim is to develop disruptive scientific projects through collaborations between Portuguese institutions and partner universities.

Financial support for selected exploratory projects (amounts per project as above) and potential collaboration with international partner institutions.

Open to proposals from Portuguese institutions participating in the CMU-Portugal, MIT-Portugal and UT Austin-Portugal partnerships.

Submit project proposals under the respective contest calls via the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia process for international partnerships.
