UNSW Scholarships for Asylum Seekers and Refugee Students (Term 1, 2027)

A suite of scholarships offered by the University of New South Wales to support asylum seekers and refugee students commencing full-time coursework study in Term 1, 2027. Individual awards include full tuition scholarships, accommodation support, and annual stipends; multiple named scholarships (e.g. Sanctuary Scholarship, Cecilia Brungs Scholarship, HMJ Sassafras Scholarship, Welcome Scholarship) are available. Eligible applicants will be considered for one or more scholarships listed and may be automatically considered via the Gateway Admission Pathway or by applying to the UNSW scholarship application (UGCE1420). Scholarship offers are contingent on meeting visa, documentation and admission requirements.

Full tuition fee scholarships (for some named awards), accommodation support up to $25,000 per annum for some awards, annual stipends (examples include $10,000 or $5,000 per annum), and duration for minimum program length where specified.

Applicants must be asylum seekers or refugees holding an eligible visa and commencing an eligible UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree in Term 1, 2027; applicants must have received an offer of admission by 30 October 2026. Specific eligible visas and documentation requirements are listed and visa status will be verified (VEVO).

Gateway Admission Pathway applicants are automatically considered if holding an eligible visa and submitting required documentation via the Gateway portal; other applicants must apply via the UNSW Scholarship Application Online portal to the UGCE1420 scheme. Applications open 2026-08-20 and close AEDT 11:59PM on 2026-10-30.
