The She Writes Press Toward Equality in Publishing (STEP) 2026 is a competition that offers two authors publishing packages on She Writes Press, including a 500-copy print run. Each package provides a full publishing service package valued at $12,000, aimed at supporting women writers and promoting inclusive publishing. Open to women writers worldwide, the contest accepts both agented and unagented manuscripts, with submissions requiring a chapter-by-chapter summary and either the first 50 pages or a full nonfiction proposal.

Publishing package services (interior and cover design, e-book formatting and distribution, traditional distribution, proofreading, copyright filing, warehousing, order fulfillment, editorial support) and an initial print run of 500 copies.

Open to women writers aged 18 or older, worldwide. Agened or unagented manuscripts are eligible.
