Community-Based Archives 2025

The Mellon Foundation invites United States–based organizations that operate community-based archives serving marginalized communities to apply. Grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 will support two-year projects beginning August 1, 2025 and ending July 31, 2027, aimed at preserving and sharing community histories and empowering communities through archival work.

Funding support in the form of a grant (amounts between $25,000 and $100,000 over two years).

Organizations must be located in the United States or its territories, have 501(c)(3) status or be a federally recognized Indian tribe, and have an annual operating budget between $12,500 and $1 million with an established archive in operation for at least two years.

Registration is required by March 12, 2025; eligible applicants will access the application form via the Fluxx portal after registration.
