Gulbenkian New Talents Scholarships

The Gulbenkian New Talents Scholarships are awarded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to support outstanding undergraduate and master's students enrolled at higher education institutions in Portugal. Recipients receive financial support, access to a personalised mentorship programme with recognised experts, and backing for research or creative projects. The programme aims to encourage academic excellence and stimulate interest in scientific and artistic research early in university studies.

Annual stipend of €6,000 (paid monthly €500); personalised mentorship with recognised researchers and professionals; support for research or creative project development.

Applicants must be enrolled in a higher education institution in Portugal and be in the 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a bachelor's degree or in the 1st year of a master's; first-year bachelor's students may be eligible if they can demonstrate exceptional talent. Candidates must demonstrate high academic results and a strong interest in research or innovation.

Apply online via the Foundation's official portal, submit academic transcripts, CV, motivation letter, and letters of recommendation; applications are evaluated by a jury and shortlisted candidates may be interviewed.
