Field Study Fellowship (Helmholtz Enterprise)

The Field Study Fellowship is a short-term funding module of the Helmholtz Enterprise programme that supports entrepreneurial activity and spin-out preparation by researchers in the Helmholtz community. It finances personnel and material costs at Helmholtz centres to carry out customer interviews and market research to validate user needs and explore application pathways. The fellowship includes expert mentoring and concludes with an explainer video, a short written reflection and a two-page final report. Funding is intended for one to two persons over a three-month period.

Up to €25,000 for personnel and material costs, access to a Field Study expert/mentor (budgeted €5,500), mentoring and program support, final explainer video and written reflection.

Funding for one to two persons from a Helmholtz centre or its institutes; application must be supported by the applicant's supervisor and the centre's technology transfer office. Time commitment of 50% part-time up to full-time for a three-month funding period; only one person may be funded full-time.
