Tandem language courses

Tandem language courses are binational youth exchanges organised by the Franco-German Youth Office (DFJW/OFAJ) in which young people from Germany and France learn each other’s language in paired tandems. Courses combine daily tandem language practice (about five hours per day) with supervised afternoon cultural, sporting and recreational activities. Exchanges last between 10 and 21 days and include a stay in Germany followed by a reciprocal visit to France; accommodation is in shared rooms or sometimes with host families.

Daily tandem language practice (approx. 5 hours/day), accommodation in shared rooms or host families, supervised bilingual leadership team, cultural and leisure programme, binational reciprocal stay.

Open to young people from Germany and France; participants should have at least A2 level French (approximately two years of French taught at school recommended).

Applicants apply via DFJW partner organisations (youth associations, partner institutions) listed by DFJW; contact the indicated partner organisations or use the DFJW registration/login link.
