NERC ICURe Discover programme

NERC ICURe Discover is a nine-week part-time online market exploration programme tailored for researchers and technicians connected to NERC-funded research. It supports participants to build market awareness, test customer hypotheses using lean startup methods, and explore commercial applications of early-stage projects addressing climate adaptation challenges. The programme includes half-day workshops, mentor and peer feedback, guest speakers, introduction to Business Model Canvas and up to £2,500 for market discovery activities. Completion of Discover is a pre-requisite for applying to ICURe Explore or Exploit opportunities.

Open only to people who have previously received NERC funding directly or been affiliated with NERC-funded programmes. Open to researchers at all levels of seniority, technicians and students undertaking master’s degrees, PhDs, and postdoctoral research based at a university, independent research organisation or one of NERC’s six centres across the UK. Applicants should have a genuine interest in entrepreneurship and a course of study and idea directly related to commercialisation of NERC-funded research for climate adaptation.
