Chen Institute & Science Prize for AI Accelerated Research 2027

The Chen Institute & Science Prize for AI Accelerated Research is a competition inviting early-career scientists who apply AI techniques to advance research in the physical or life sciences. The prize recognises an individual researcher for a 1,000-word essay describing their contribution and the significance of their work, with monetary awards for the winner and runners-up and accompanying benefits. The 2027 edition offers a grand prize of US$30,000 plus travel, a five-year Science subscription, and publication of the essay in Science, with up to two runners-up receiving US$10,000 each and similar ancillary benefits.

US$30,000 prize for the winner, up to US$10,000 for each runner-up, travel and accommodation for awards ceremony (where applicable), five-year digital subscription to Science, publication of the winning essay in Science.

Open to early-career scientists holding an MD, PhD, or MD/PhD at the time of entry, who have conducted AI-enabled research addressing fundamental questions in the physical or life sciences and who can demonstrate their individual contribution.

Submit an electronic entry through the prize management system, including a completed entry form, a 1,000-word essay, a one-page letter of recommendation, a curriculum vitae, and up to two relevant publications.
