Kolleg-Forschungsgruppen in den Geistes- und Sozialwissenschaften

Kolleg-Forschungsgruppen are a DFG funding instrument tailored to the working practices of the humanities and social sciences, enabling collaboration of distinguished researchers at one location to develop and work on a broad research theme. They feature intensive research activity by two to three lead researchers and include a fellow programme for guests from Germany and abroad for up to two years. Funding may be provided for up to eight years and proposals are selected through a multi-stage application procedure.

Researchers proposing a Kolleg-Forschungsgruppe in the humanities or social sciences may submit proposal sketches; integration of scholars in early career stages is possible but not central. Applications must be submitted via the DFG elan portal and applicants are advised to consult the relevant DFG contacts beforehand.

Two-stage application: submit a proposal sketch via the DFG elan portal (registration required); selected initiatives are invited to prepare a full proposal.
