CIFAR–SNSF Winter School: Using Empirical Data in the Social Sciences & Humanities

The CIFAR–SNSF Winter School is a short residential school focused on the use of empirical data in the social sciences and humanities, with attention to ethics, policy and the arts. It engages senior PhD students and postdoctoral fellows in interactive lectures, mentorship, professional development and interdisciplinary discussion. The School will be held in St Gallen, Switzerland from January 26–28, 2027 (arrivals January 25). Participants will explore topics including epistemology, policy and research ethics across SSH disciplines.

Applicants must be senior PhD students or postdoctoral fellows based in Canada or Switzerland, or be affiliated with a CIFAR program member. Applicants are required to submit a CV and a short discussion of their research, how the school would benefit their future career, and their interest in participating.
