OIST PhD Scholarships & Research Internships 2025

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) offers fully funded PhD programs and competitive research internships open to international students. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary research with English-only instruction and includes substantial support and facilities. Internships run 10–12 weeks and are available to undergraduate or master’s students worldwide, with housing, living stipend, and travel support provided.

Full tuition and living stipend for PhD; relocation support, health insurance, free accommodation; internships include living allowance, housing, commuting support, and return airfare.

Open to students in their final two bachelor’s years, any year of master’s, or recent graduates.

For internships, submit online application with transcript, statement of purpose, passport scan, photo, and at least one recommendation letter; a non-refundable JPY 3,000 application fee applies from Fall 2025 onwards.
