Wellington Doctoral Scholarship

The Wellington Doctoral Scholarship is a fully funded PhD scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington, designed to encourage and support doctoral study across all disciplines. It offers financial support and recognition of academic excellence, with an annual stipend and tuition coverage. Approximately 110 scholarships are awarded each year across various fields, with selection based on academic merit and potential for research impact.

NZD $32,000 annual stipend; full domestic tuition fees covered (up to three years); professional development and recognition as a Wellington Doctoral Scholar.

Applicants must be graduates intending to enrol full-time for a Doctorate (PhD) at Victoria University of Wellington, not already holding a doctoral degree, and typically have completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with First Class Honours (or equivalent).

Submit an online application via the Wellington Faculty of Graduate Research website with all required documents; applicants are notified within 6–8 weeks after each closing date.
