PhD Scholarship – Violent Futures? Contestations Along Carbon Frontiers in East Africa

Applications are open for a fully funded PhD scholarship under the Collaborative Research Center CRC‑TRR 228 “Future Rural Africa.” The project involves long-term ethnographic research in Kenya and Tanzania, focusing on how carbon credit projects shape social relations and conflict dynamics. The scholarship provides a monthly stipend of €1,475 for 41 months, with start in August 2026 and opportunities to publish and collaborate within the CRC TRR 228 research network.
