The Department of Science and Innovation Inter-Programme Bursary Scheme (DSI IBS) provides financial support for South African students pursuing advanced studies in key areas of science and innovation. It targets high-performing students applying for Honours, Master’s, and Doctorate qualifications, with alignment to CSIR and DSI research priorities. Bursary recipients receive a substantial annual allowance, plus additional benefits such as laboratory access, conference funding, mentorship, and opportunities for work placements.

Annual financial allowance varying by degree level, laptop allowance, experimental costs funding, conference attendance funding, mentorship, work placements, interview skills training, research and writing skills development, wellness support, and opportunities to present at the Emerging Researchers Symposium.

Conditions d'éligibilité

Applicants must be registered or intending to register for full-time studies at an accredited South African public university, pursuing Honours, Master’s, or Doctorate qualifications aligned with CSIR thematic areas.
