Dunlap Institute Summer School

A five-day summer school focused on optical astronomy and instrumentation, combining lectures and hands-on laboratory activities. Participants design and construct a spectrograph, take part in observations, and attend career-development sessions. Instructors include astronomers and instrumentation experts from the Dunlap Institute, the University of Toronto Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics, and international partner institutions. The program includes accommodation and meals for attendees.

Accommodation, breakfasts and lunches included; travel grants and registration-fee waivers available; hands-on laboratory experience, instrument construction (spectrograph), observational sessions, and career-development activities.

Students who have finished at least the third year of an undergraduate program, or are in the early years of a graduate program, with a background in astronomy, physics, engineering or a related field.

Applicants provide a 500-word statement of interest, a current academic transcript (unofficial accepted), an up-to-date CV, and one reference letter. Application is submitted via the Dunlap application link/form.
