The PEC-PG programme offers scholarships for foreign students from countries that have signed Educational Cooperation Agreements with Brazil to study at Brazilian public universities at postgraduate level. Courses are taught in Portuguese and candidates must demonstrate Portuguese language proficiency. There are no tuition fees for scholarship holders. The first year in Brazil includes a free Portuguese language and Brazilian culture course to obtain the Celpe-Bras certificate.
