Salata Summer Research Funding Program

A summer research funding program that supports undergraduate and graduate students conducting research focused on climate, sustainability, or the environment. It offers three funding tracks covering faculty-led research assistantships and independent undergraduate and graduate research projects. The program requires a mid-summer report, a final 2–4 page paper by mid-September, and participation in a poster session in early October 2026. Funding amounts vary by track, up to $6,000.

Up to $6,000 (varies by track); Track 1: $3,000 stipend, free on-campus housing, meals; participation in HSURV professional development and cohort activities; presentation opportunities (poster session).

Harvard undergraduate and graduate students conducting summer research in climate, sustainability, or the environment; projects must be advised by a Harvard faculty member and applicants must be returning enrolled students in the fall term immediately after the summer.

Applications opened January 26, 2026 and close March 2, 2026 (5:00 PM). Applicants select a funding track and submit the required application materials and faculty supervisor confirmation via the program application resources linked on the program page.
