SECIHTI PhD Scholarships

A scholarship programme administered by the Mexican Ministry of Education, Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI) to fund Mexican nationals to undertake PhD studies at the University of Groningen. The call for full PhD funding for 2026 opened on 2026-03-23 with an application deadline of 2026-05-22. Selected grantees must start their mobility by 2027-04-01 at the latest and may be eligible for an institutional top-up while in Groningen. Applicants must provide a Letter of Acceptance and proof of English proficiency as part of GSMS admission.

Monthly scholarship of EUR 1,240 and potential institutional top-up contribution while conducting research at the University of Groningen.

Mexican nationals may apply for SECIHTI funding for full PhD studies abroad and must meet GSMS admission requirements including proof of English proficiency.

Applicants submit their application to SECIHTI within the published call period and must secure a Letter of Acceptance from the Graduate School of Medical Sciences; contact the UG Representative Office in Mexico for assistance.
