Wits Research Office Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme

The University of the Witwatersrand offers a postdoctoral fellowship programme intended for emerging researchers who have recently completed their PhD and are aiming to establish themselves as independent researchers within a world-class research environment. The fellowship provides a stipend and research support for a 24-month appointment at Wits University. It is open to applicants across all faculties and disciplines, with an emphasis on first-time postdoctoral fellows.

R320,000 annual stipend; R20,000 annual cost-of-living top-up; R10,000 annual research cost allowance; access to university facilities and resources; professional development and opportunities to publish research.

Eligible applicants include recent PhD graduates, early-career researchers, and first-time postdoctoral applicants across all faculties and disciplines.
