Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of the Western Cape 2026

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) provides fully-funded undergraduate or master’s degree study opportunities for academically talented youth from South Africa and other parts of Africa. The program includes a range of support services such as housing, stipends, and wrap-around assistance to facilitate success at UWC. It is implemented by UWC as part of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

Tuition coverage, housing on campus, monthly stipend and meal allowance, medical aid, laptop, study materials allowance, pre-arrival support and onboarding, and holistic wrap-around support.

Open to undergraduate and master’s level applicants who are from Africa, with emphasis on those whose access to higher education is impeded by economic and social barriers; includes requirements for January 2026 start and, for international applicants, SAQA/USAf considerations where applicable.

Submit an academic application to study at UWC for 2026, obtain a UWC application number, then complete the online Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program application.
