Backend Python Engineer

The Backend Python Engineer is a paid, time-limited engineering position within the Tools and Services section of CERN’s Scientific Information Service. The role involves designing, building and operating backend services, high-throughput data pipelines, REST APIs and search infrastructure used by the global high-energy physics community. The post contributes to modernising INSPIRE, SCOAP3 and CERN Analysis Preservation, expanding Model Context Protocol services and migrating archival content to Access to Memory (AtoM).

Monthly net stipend (6372–7004 CHF per month), 30 days paid leave plus annual closure, comprehensive health insurance for employee and family, membership of CERN Pension Fund, family/child allowances, relocation package, on-the-job and formal training including language classes; possibility to extend contract up to 36 months.
