Olimpíada de Português

The Olimpíada de Português is a national language competition for students from the 1st year of primary school through the final year of high school in Brazil. It aims to stimulate reading, text interpretation and linguistic reasoning through staged tests prepared by a scientific committee of linguists and literature professors. The competition includes classificatory phases and finals, with categories organized by school grade and a special 'OP bê-á-bá' modality for early primary years. Distinguished participants may receive medals and certificates and may become eligible for certain university 'vagas olímpicas' (olympic admission places).
