Commonwealth PhD Scholarships 2027/2028 for full-time doctoral study at a UK university

The Commonwealth PhD Scholarships provide fully funded doctoral study in the United Kingdom for scholars from eligible Commonwealth countries. The award covers tuition, airfare, a living stipend, and related study costs, supporting high-quality research with developmental impact and contributing to the scholar’s home country upon return. Applicants must have a strong academic record and intend to undertake world-class research of developmental importance.

Airfare to the UK and back, full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, study travel grants, fieldwork support, paid mid-term visit, and possible family allowances

Applicants must be citizens of or have refugee status in an eligible Commonwealth country, be permanently resident there, be able to start in September 2027, hold a first degree of at least upper second-class (2:1) honours (or a relevant postgraduate qualification for lower 2:1), and be unable to afford UK study without the scholarship.
