NMIP sandpit: Digital materials for accelerated innovation

A three- to five-day residential sandpit to develop high-impact, multidisciplinary project proposals addressing challenges and opportunities of integrating digital approaches to accelerate translation of materials research. The sandpit will bring together a cohort of researchers and potential users, supported by a director and mentors, to work collaboratively on transformative approaches. By the end of the sandpit participants are expected to have developed collaborative project proposals, with project leads of recommended proposals invited to submit full funding applications. Accommodation will be provided for participants; travel must be arranged by participants.

Applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for EPSRC funding. Shortlisted applicants must confirm commitment to attend the entire in-person sandpit, expected to take place in January or February 2027 for up to five days.

Applications will be via completion of an expression of interest (EOI) survey when launched; full details to be published when the EOI opens.
