Paul Celan Fellowship for Translators 2025-2026

The Paul Celan Fellowship for Translators supports translations of canonical texts and contemporary key works in the humanities, social sciences, and cultural studies from Eastern to Western Europe, Western to Eastern, or between two Eastern European languages. Special emphasis is on translations by East European authors and/or female scholars. Fellows receive a monthly stipend to cover all expenses related to their stay in Vienna and have access to an office and university facilities.

Monthly stipend of EUR 3,300, office access, internet, research and administrative facilities, and other services free of charge.

Open to European translators.

Submit application materials including motivation letter, project description, proposal, CV with bibliography, publisher contract or option letter, and rights proof; all documents must be in English and combined into a single PDF.
