Boren Scholarships

Boren Scholarships provide funding for U.S. undergraduate students to pursue language-intensive study in world regions considered critical to U.S. interests, including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. Recipients commit to working in the U.S. federal government for at least one year after graduation. The scholarship supports study abroad and language learning in underrepresented regions.

Financial award of $25,000 to support language-intensive study in targeted world regions

U.S. high school graduates, GED recipients, and matriculated undergraduate students are eligible to apply. Recipients commit to serving the U.S. federal government for a minimum of one year after completing their studies.

Prepare application materials and submit an application for the Boren Scholarships; applicants must understand and accept the required federal service commitment.
