Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Scholarship

The Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Scholarship, administered by the Rotary Yoneyama Memorial Foundation in Japan, funds overseas students enrolling at Japanese universities and graduate schools. It supports bachelor's, master's and doctoral study (research students are not eligible) and provides a monthly stipend and a supplemental travel payment. Scholarship payments begin in April 2027 or October/September 2027 depending on enrolment. Applicants must have passed the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test at N3 or above and secure admission to a Japanese university or graduate school before applying.

Monthly stipend (100,000 yen for undergraduates; 140,000 yen for master's and doctoral students); supplemental travel payment up to 250,000 yen; scholarship payments begin in April or October/September 2027 depending on enrolment.

Open to overseas students applying from outside Japan who are scheduled to enrol in a Japanese university or graduate school; applicants must have passed the JLPT at N3 or above, submit a copy of their application for admission, and (for graduate applicants) provide a recommendation letter from a supervisor or professor. Research students and those enrolling in language schools or universities outside Japan are not eligible.

Find and apply for admission to a Japanese university or graduate school first; download and complete the foundation's application documents (Application Guide, Application form, Research Plan, Essay, Recommendation Letter), register on the foundation's website, upload required documents and submit the application during the specified window (1–31 October 2026, 13:00 JST).
