Cordones y nudos. Las Cartas de una peruana y los quipus de las Luces

The conference Cordones y nudos. Las Cartas de una peruana y los quipus de las Luces, delivered by Roger Chartier at the Biblioteca Nacional de México, presents advances in his research on the novel Cartas de una Peruana and its relation to quipus. It discusses quipus as systems for recording, writing and memory and explores their use in the 18th-century French reception of the work and in Inca history. The talk situates the quipu artifacts within literary and historical contexts and references related scholarly work.
