Prize for Tropical Geography Yola Verhasselt

The Prize for Tropical Geography Yola Verhasselt is a research prize awarded by the Royal Academy for Overseas Sciences of Belgium to support fieldwork in tropical geography. The laureate receives a travel credit to finance field research and is conferred the title 'Laureate of the Prize for Tropical Geography Yola Verhasselt'. The prize cannot be split and the Academy may publish the results of the research.

Travel credit of 2,500 EUR for fieldwork; the title of Laureate; possible publication of the research by the Academy.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in geography obtained within the last five years or be registered for a doctorate in geography; be attached to a Belgian university or a scientific institute; and submit a research project in tropical geography with the advice of a doctoral supervisor who holds a doctorate in geography or equivalent.

Submit five copies of the project (including motivation, work plan, budget estimate, CV, supervisor's recommendation and proof of local collaboration) to the Academy secretariat before 1 February of the prize year.
