Romania Foreign Researchers Grants

The Romanian Cultural Institute offers three short-term grants for foreign researchers in 2026. The grants provide financial support for a 3-month internship at a specialized institution in Romania, enabling scholars to conduct studies on topics related to Romanian society, culture, and academic fields. The programme includes a structured research project and work plan, with selection by an independent commission of specialists.

Three grants awarded annually; access to Romanian institutions, archives, and networks

Applicants must be PhD students working on Romanian-related topics or established researchers, and must provide two recommendation letters, evidence of recent publications, a structured research project and work plan, and, if applicable, proof of PhD enrollment. Applications must be written in English.
