Small Research Grants on Education

A grant program supporting field-initiated education research projects with budgets up to $50,000 and project durations of one to five years. The program accepts proposals from multiple disciplinary and methodological perspectives and supports domestic and international research presented in English. It aims to fund rigorous research relevant to pressing questions in education. Applications are submitted through the Spencer Foundation online portal.

Principal Investigators and Co‑PIs must have an earned doctorate; graduate students may be part of the team but may not be named PI or Co‑PI. The PI must be affiliated with a non‑profit or public/governmental institution willing to serve as administering organization. Proposals are accepted from the U.S. and internationally and must be submitted in English with budgets in U.S. dollars.
