SARB/BER Economist Internship Programme 2027

The SAB/BER Economist Internship Programme provides practical training for graduates to function as economists in public and private sectors. Successful candidates will be employed by the South African Reserve Bank for a one-year training period at the Bureau for Economic Research in Stellenbosch, with a dedicated Data Science for Economics pathway available for qualified candidates.

Full-time employment with SARB; one-year training at BER; competitive salary during the training year.

Applicants must be a South African citizen, hold an Honours or Master’s degree in Economics (by January 2027), have studied Macroeconomics at postgraduate level, be fluent in English, and possess excellent communication and writing skills. Data Science track applicants should have quantitative/programming subjects and a GitHub profile.
