Women in AI/ML Doctoral Fellowship 2026: Empowering the Next Generation of Women Leaders in Artificial Intelligence

The Women in AI/ML Doctoral Fellowship provides financial support, mentorship, technical collaboration, and global visibility to women PhD scholars in Sub-Saharan Africa. The program is hosted in partnership with The New School and the KAIA Network, enabling fellows to conduct AI/ML research that intersects with social sciences and related fields and to engage with a global community of researchers and practitioners.

Research funding (USD 5,000), collaboration with KAIA Network, mentorship, access to a global community of researchers, seminars/workshops, opportunities to present research, and networking with partners such as universities and civil society organizations.

Open to women who are currently enrolled in, or admitted to, a PhD program at an accredited institution in Sub-Saharan Africa and conducting research that integrates AI/ML methodologies into their doctoral work.

Applications submitted via the KAIA Network platform; requires personal and institutional details and confirmation of AI/ML integration in the research.
