American University Emerging Global Leader Scholar Program 2026

The AU Emerging Global Leader Scholar Program (AU EGLS) is a scholarship initiative at American University designed to promote educational access and international diversity. It provides substantial financial support to international students to study in the United States, including full coverage of billable expenses for two scholars and additional partial scholarships. The program emphasizes leadership development, global engagement, and positive civic impact.

Full tuition, room and board for two international scholars; potential additional partial scholarships up to US$40,000 per year; opportunities for leadership development and global engagement.

You are NOT eligible to apply if you are a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, U.S. pending permanent resident, or dual citizen of the U.S. and another country; you are enrolled in or have begun any post-secondary studies at another university; you graduated secondary school earlier than 2023; you have not completed the AU international instructions checklist by the deadline; you have not submitted required financial and English proficiency documents; or you have not followed the AU instructions for applying.

Complete and submit the Common Application with all required documents per AU international instructions before January 15, 2026.
