Philipp Schwartz Initiative Fellowship 2026 at Universität Hamburg

The Philipp Schwartz Initiative Fellowship at Universität Hamburg provides persecuted and at-risk researchers with a fully funded pathway to continue their work in safety in Germany. Fellows receive substantial financial support, institutional backing, and career development opportunities, enabling integration into the German research environment for an extended period.

Monthly stipend or employment, institutional support package, language courses, career development, research materials and conferences, travel support, long-term protection in a safe research environment.

Applicants must hold a doctorate or equivalent, belong to a discipline offered at Universität Hamburg, demonstrate sufficient English or German proficiency, have left their country of origin no more than five years before application, provide proof of at‑risk status (from SAR or CARA) issued within the last 12 months, and apply via the host institution.

Applications are submitted via the host institution (Uni Hamburg) and coordinated through the biannual call process.
