MRC Career Development Fellowship

The MRC Career Development Fellowship is a funded programme to support talented researchers to establish independent research careers within the Medical Research Council/UK Research and Innovation. It is aimed at applicants with a PhD (or equivalent) and a track record of research, enabling fellows to develop research plans, build research teams and undertake medical research across basic to clinical areas. The fellowship provides salary support and funding for research costs, staff, training and associated expenses.

Salary; research costs; equipment; travel; funding for research and technical staff; visa and family health cost assistance; training and data preservation funding; estates and indirect costs; NHS research costs where applicable; support for industry research partnerships.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent, demonstrate research skills and a good track record, have research plans distinct from existing group leaders, focus on research to improve health, and have the support of an eligible UK organisation. Applicants must not have applied for an MRC fellowship within the past year more than twice, must not already hold a fellowship or award, and clinician applicants must apply to the appropriate (scientist) route.
