Biotechnet PhD Fellowships – March 2026

Biotechnet PhD Fellowships provide funded PhD opportunities for East African postgraduates to pursue a Doctor Philosophiae in the life sciences. The fellowships are offered through collaborations with several international institutions and allow research projects to be conducted at partner universities, with mobilities to Trieste, New Delhi or Cape Town. The programme includes a stipend, travel support, health insurance and university tuition coverage for the duration of the PhD.

Stipend, travel expenses to host labs, health insurance, tuition coverage for the PhD registration, possible accommodation support, and support for participation in external meetings and courses.

Applicants must be nationals of Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya or Uganda and must hold the relevant higher degree requirements for the PhD tracks at Trieste, New Delhi or Cape Town.

Submit an online application by the stated deadline and obtain a written statement from an ICGEB Group Leader willing to support the project.
