Open Technologieprogramma

The Open Technologieprogramma (OTP) is a competitive NWO grant programme that funds free and independent applied and technical-scientific research without disciplinary boundaries, with emphasis on societal and/or scientific impact. It supports inter- and multidisciplinary projects that collaborate with relevant public and/or private knowledge users to increase the likelihood of application and impact. Projects may request funding for personnel, equipment, investments and knowledge utilisation, and have a maximum project duration of six years. The programme is intended for research activities and is not for primarily investment-driven work, contract research or clinical trials.

Project subsidy up to €950,000 (or up to €1,050,000 for projects with large investments); funding may cover personnel, equipment, investments and knowledge utilisation; maximum project duration six years.

Applicants must be employed in a permanent position (indefinite contract) or hold a tenure track position at an eligible research organisation listed by NWO (Dutch universities, university medical centres, KNAW- and NWO-institutes, Netherlands Cancer Institute, Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics Nijmegen, NCB Naturalis, ARCNL, Prinses Máxima Centrum). Persons with a zero-hours contract or a fixed-term contract (other than tenure track) are excluded.

Submissions via NWO's ISAAC application system; proposals are distributed to jury rooms in order of arrival, externally refereed, and scored by a multidisciplinary independent jury on scientific quality (50%) and impact (50%).
