Financial support for board membership

Leiden University provides financial support to students who have undertaken recognised board membership activities in eligible student organisations or faculty co-participation bodies. Eligible students may receive a monthly payment for each recognised month of board activities and can also request a certificate for their efforts. Decisions on allocation are made by the Student and Educational Affairs department after a student organisation or faculty assessor requests support. Payments are generally made in one lump sum, with some named organisations receiving monthly payments.

Monetary payment per recognised month of board activities (330 EUR/month; additional 129.80 EUR/month for certain full-time cases); a certificate acknowledging board membership efforts. Payment is normally in one lump sum; specified organisations receive monthly payments.

You must be a registered, statutory tuition fee-paying Leiden University student in the year you undertake board activities, not receive duplicate financial assistance for the same activity, and be a member of an eligible organisation that has requested financial support. Certain categories of eligible organisations are listed (faculty-based study associations, faculty-based co-participation bodies, PKvV associations, non-faculty organisations organising academic/job-market activities for Leiden students, and student electoral parties).

The student organisation or faculty assessor must request financial support from SEA. If support is granted, the organisation completes a chairperson’s statement (or SEA sends an award decision email for faculty bodies). The student then submits required documents and completes the university request form to receive payment.
