Voltaire Prize for Tolerance, International Understanding and Respect for Difference

The Voltaire Prize for Tolerance, International Understanding and Respect for Difference is an annual award presented by the University of Potsdam to a young scholar who has made important contributions to public discourse on tolerance, international understanding or freedom of research, education and expression. The prize honours individuals nominated by third parties or organisations and is decided by a panel of judges. The winner is honoured during the University's New Year's Reception.

Monetary prize of €5,000; public honour at the University of Potsdam New Year's Reception.

Nominations must be submitted by third parties or organisations; self-nominations are not possible. The prize is awarded to a young scholar who has made important contributions to the popular discourse on tolerance, international understanding and freedom of research, education and expression.

Nominations are submitted via the online application form; submissions must be in German or English and are uploaded through the university's application form/portal.
