Virtual Media Workshop on Forest Governance

The Virtual Media Workshop on Forest Governance is a two-day online training for journalists focusing on forest governance issues, sustainable forest management and related international policies. It aims to strengthen journalists' knowledge, investigative techniques and data-visualisation skills to improve reporting on challenges and solutions in forest governance. The workshop is delivered under the Forest Governance Media Initiative (FGMI) and includes expert trainers such as forestry specialists, investigative journalists and policy analysts. The event is conducted in English and provides access to FGMI resources and networking opportunities for participants.

Two days of expert-led training on forest governance topics (including REDD+, EUDR and FLEGT), investigative reporting techniques, data-visualisation tips, safety protocols, access to FGMI resources and an expanded reporting network.

Applicants can be from any African country, with preference for Ghana, Liberia and Cameroon; journalists from forest-risk-commodity consumer markets in Europe and Asia (such as the EU, UK, China and India) are also encouraged to apply. Applications are invited from journalists working in any medium and other expert media practitioners with professional reporting experience, including freelancers and staff from community, local, national and international media. Applicants must have a good command of English and reliable internet access.
