DHET Future Professors Programme 2025

The Future Professors Programme (FPP) of the Department of Higher Education and Training prepares promising early and mid-career academics to advance to the level of professor across the disciplines. It includes a baseline evaluation, a residential series of seminars and coaching, and opportunities for international engagement to align with participants' scholarly projects.

Academic staff should hold a doctorate, have demonstrable evidence of scholarly achievement, and be permanently employed in an academic capacity or an equivalent appointment. Strengthening factors include being Black and/or a woman, lecturers or senior lecturers, and NRF-like standing, though these are not exclusive requirements.
