Ocean Futures Fellowship 2027-28

The Ocean Futures Fellowship is a twelve-month professional fellowship for early-career ocean professionals that provides training, mentorship, and a year-long capstone project. Fellows participate remotely from their home countries and receive a monthly stipend and access to mentors from the OceanX Changemakers Community. The programme offers professional development in areas such as AI, immersive media, archives, partnerships, and communications and includes potential opportunities to travel on the OceanXplorer vessel or attend an OceanX Summit. The programme is presented via IIE in partnership with OceanX.

Monthly stipend, remote participation, mentorship from OceanX Changemakers Community, training and professional development, a year-long capstone project, potential travel on the OceanXplorer vessel or attendance at an OceanX Summit, technology stipend for select Fellows.

Applicants must be at least 21 years old, hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year institution prior to the start of the fellowship, be able to commit full-time to the 12-month fellowship (full-time students and those in full-time employment are not eligible), have full professional proficiency in English, and demonstrate practical knowledge and interest in AI literacy and emerging technologies. Additional degree-related requirements apply for specific fellowship streams.
