Finnish Championship in Newly Written Snapsvisor 2026

The Finnish Championship in Newly Written Snapsvisor 2026 is a songwriting competition for newly written Swedish-language snapsvisor (traditional short drinking songs). Submissions must be unpublished texts set to a known melody and each participant may submit up to three entries. Finalists usually perform their songs at the final event; the competition is organised by Svenska litteratursällskapet i Finland (SLS) in cooperation with the Finland-Swedish Rim Academy (FiRA).

Entries must be written in Swedish, previously unpublished, set to a known melody (state which melody), and each participant may submit up to three songs. Provide contact details so FiRA can contact finalists; finalists usually perform their own songs but may appoint a performer.

Submit up to three unpublished Swedish-language snapsvisor set to a known melody via the provided submission link or contact SLS archive for alternative submission methods; finalists perform at the final.
