Emerging Leaders in Australian Astronomy Software Development Prize

The Emerging Leaders in Australian Astronomy Software Development Prize recognises outstanding contributions to the development of open-source astronomical software by an early career researcher in a non-permanent position. The prize acknowledges software that is intended for wide use and that was developed or substantially contributed to within the last five years. It is awarded annually by the Astronomical Society of Australia and is sponsored by the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) and CSIRO. The prize is presented at the Conference Dinner of the ASA Annual Scientific Meeting.

Nominees must be early career researchers (PhD students or postdoctoral researchers without a permanent/faculty position), must have produced or contributed to new open-source astronomy software within the last five years, must have been funded or supported by Australian funders/institutions or have resided in Australia or been affiliated with an Australian institute when the software was developed, and must be an ASA member.

Nomination submitted using the ECR Software Prize Nomination submission form (Word or PDF) including a short description (≤2 pages), a one-page statement on community/documentation/FAIR principles, names and emails of two professional astronomers for supporting letters; nomination materials addressed to Dr Tanya Hill and submitted to the ASA according to the stated guidelines.
