Data for Metascience Sandpit 2027

The Data for Metascience Sandpit 2027 is a five-day interactive, hybrid sandpit that brings together participants to develop novel research projects addressing metascience questions related to R&D funding and policy. The sandpit combines three in-person days with two remote days and uses facilitated collaborative methods to generate project proposals which will pitch for funding on the final day. Projects arising from the sandpit are expected to be 12–18 months in duration and may be eligible for UKRI funding.

Participation in a five-day facilitated sandpit; opportunity to develop project proposals and pitch for UKRI funding; possible access to UKRI DataLab for accredited participants and a data dictionary for others; mentoring and stakeholder input during the sandpit.

Applicants must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for UKRI funding (UK higher education institutions, research council institutes, UKRI-approved independent research organisations, public sector research establishments, or NHS bodies with research capacity). Applicants from UK business, third sector or government organisations may participate as co-leads or partners but cannot lead projects; international collaboration is not allowed.
