Data Science at Scale Summer Internship

A multidisciplinary summer internship/summer school at Los Alamos National Laboratory where upper-level undergraduate and graduate students work with computer and application scientists on data-intensive scientific problems. Participants engage in hands-on scientific research using visualization and data analysis technologies, often producing open-source code and reports. Interns gain experience with high performance computing clusters, visualization tools, seminars, mentoring, and weekly presentations. Projects include ensemble data management, machine learning for scientific data, front-end visualization, and foundation models for scientific data.

Paid internship; hands-on research experience, mentoring, seminars, weekly presentations, opportunity to work on HPC and visualization tools; code and reports commonly published as open source.

Outstanding upper-level undergraduate or graduate students in computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, applied computational science or related science and technology fields; programming experience (C++, VTK, VTK-m, Python) is encouraged.
