Young CAS Grant

The Young CAS Grant is a residential fellowship programme that enables an early-career researcher to lead an international team, run a research project, and expand their research network. CAS will select two projects that run January 2027–December 2028, including three workshops and a two-month research stay at CAS. Each selected project receives funding to support workshops and the research stay and receives administrative and logistical support from CAS. Researchers from all disciplines are invited, though laboratory-based work cannot be conducted at CAS.

Grant of up to NOK 750 000, three workshops organised (with assistance), a two-month research stay at CAS with office space and seminar rooms, IT and library services, and assistance in planning and organising activities; pleasant accommodations within walking distance for non-Oslo-based researchers.

Applicants must have completed a PhD and be below the age of 40 at the application deadline (extensions for statutory leaves, military/civilian service and certain sick leave). Applicants must maintain a full-time academic position at one of CAS's partner institutions at the application deadline and throughout the project period, and the application must be supported by the head of department. Project leadership experience is preferred but not mandatory.
