Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) 2026

The Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) is the Government of Canada’s central student hiring system that places full‑time students in paid roles across federal departments. It operates via a student inventory where applicants upload a resume and are searchable by departments throughout the year; postings are not limited to a single job posting. Roles span admin, policy and research support, IT and data, finance, and science or engineering tasks, with possible hybrid or remote setups depending on the role and department.

Government work experience, structured teams, access to professional tools, real projects, and professional references; compensation is based on role and study level.

You can usually apply if you are a full-time student in a recognized secondary or post-secondary program and you will continue your studies after the work term; there is an age requirement based on provincial/territorial law where the job is located.
